Jamaican Oriole (Icterus Leucopteryx) with Coffee plant and Lignum Vitae tree

Victorian artist and botanist Marianne North painted both these plants but in different paintings. (See previous post). Her rendition of the blue flowered tree was placed in an orchard of trees and I have placed my bough over the head of the oriole. Lignum vitae (Wood of Life) is the national flower of Jamaica. Marianne painted coffee and tea plants surrounding the doors of her gallery at Kew. I have placed an oriole on my branch of coffea canephora and included coffee flowers in the composition. I love painting orioles and troupials because of their vibrant colours. For more images from my Painting Paradise project please visit my Instagram
